In lectures on human development it always causes a stir when I point out that men are not only genetically weaker than women but are also are more biologically expendable. You just don't need that many men in a society. So this recent study caught my eye. Not only does this research show that women live longer than men on average, they also live longer during the most harshest of conditions such as in famines and epidemics.
