Choices (East) have adopted the the SPUR Triage and Quarto comprehensive assessment for young people. Developed with the Cornwall YZUP team, these tools were specifically designed to increase young people's engagement in services. SPUR stands for "Screen, Prevent & Upward Referral" and provides a rapid triage assessment that is also brief intervention at the same time. This offers young people with fairly normative patterns of substance use up to three sessions and have shown very positive outcomes. Quarto is a young person friendly comprehensive assessment for those with more complex needs. These tools are now being used in over 10 counties in the UK.
